"George clearly knows how to reward his fans for their loyalty," said Hayek. “It’s actions like this that have made George Clooney an entertainment industry legend.”
Hayek also took time to congratulate First Lady Michelle Obama on her support for fashion designers from America’s minority business community during the Inauguration by wearing the clothes of Cuban-born designer Isabel Toledo and Asian-American designer Jason Wu -- both of whose garments Hayek says she herself has worn.
“The lemongrass lace number by Toledo was an incredibly daring fashion choice for mid-winter, and few people could have pulled that color off on a chilly Washington morning – but Michelle passed with flying colors,” said Hayek, who added that unlike Michelle, she herself rarely wears clothing by J. Crew. “And the ivory gown by Wu was also stunning.” Wu, based in New York, was born in Taipei, making both designers successful immigrants to the U.S.
Finally Hayek told the host that her home was now “peanut butter free,” as her household cabinets were scoured for snacks after the recent high profile salmonella scare that has caused a massive product recall from top food companies such as Kellogg’s and others.
She noted that while her one-year-old daughter Valentina rules her house “like a tyrant,” Valentina “not yet a fan of peanut butter,” so the task was an easy one. Hayek is co-parenting Valentina with the child’s father, French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault, her former fiancé.
In an example perhaps of art echoing life, on “30 Rock,” Hayek breaks it off with her on-screen love interest Alec Baldwin in a six-episode story arc that began earlier this month. “30 Rock” also stars actress Tina Fey; Jennifer Aniston and Oprah Winfrey are past guest stars.
