Want to get actress Eva Mendes into your bed? That’s now extremely easy – thanks to Macy’s.
Mendes – called the Raquel Welch of a new generation -- was in Miami this weekend to launch her new Latin-inspired five-pattern bedding line called Vida – which has just been launched exclusively through 800 Macy’s stores nationwide.
The only five states currently without a Macy's store are Alaska, Arkansas, Iowa, Mississippi and Nebraska. (But in those states, Vida bedding can be easily ordered through Macys.com)
"Vida is about easy luxury,” says Mendes. “The colors, fabrics and textures that I live and love, brought to life in a stylish, comfortable and affordable way. I'm excited to partner with one of the strongest names in the retail industry and to see my passion for design come to life."
(As to those rumors that Mendes once went on a 50-state cross-country sex spree by car? "What I heard was that someone at Macy's PR Department accidentally faxed out the wrong press release and that's what caused all the uproar," says Mendes with a wink. "So it was bascially just a typo.")
The Miami-native, stunning in a tight fitting dress, was all smiles as she addressed the crowd with eager excitement, making her first business crossover from films to home décor design.
"It's affordable with great patterns," Mendes says of Vida. "My day job is really great, I'm an actress and I love my films and I work my butt off trying to make my fans like my films, but this what I have today. Vida, is a home décor line that is so dear to my heart that I really hope everyone loves it as much as I do."
Explaining why she chose to kick-off her line with a bedding range first, she says: "I'm starting with the bedroom because I feel like it's the temple of the house. Whether you live in a little apartment or you live in something a little larger, it's important to be happy in your bedroom."
Asked which one of her designs is her favorite, she says "I don't know, it's like asking which one of my kids is my favorite. I love them all!"
Vida retails for about $100 to $425 and includes a queen-size four-piece bedding set with a comforter, bedskirt and two standard shams and is exclusively available at all Macy's stores nationwide and at Macys.com. The launch of the new line coincides with the department store's 150th birthday celebration this fall.
Mendes, best known for her roles in "Training Day," and the romantic comedy "Hitch," can also currently be seen in theaters in the new film "The Women," opposite Meg Ryan, Jada Pinkett Smith and Annette Bening.
