The Griffin will return to Florida January 23-26, 2008 to perform LETTERS HOME as part of the IPAY International Performing Arts Festival. The festival will be held at the Tampa Bay Center for the Performing Arts in Tampa, Florida and the Griffin will be among 14 performing arts troupes from Canada, Europe, South and Central America and India for the four day event.

Prior to the Griffin's national tour of LETTERS HOME the production will have a limited Chicago run at Theatre Building Chicago, October 14-October 24, 2007. Chicago performances will be held at Theatre Building Chicago (1225 West Belmont Ave in Chicago) on Sunday, October 14 & 21, Monday, October 15 & 22 at 7:30pm and Wednesday, October 17 & 24 at 10:00am. Tickets to LETTERS HOME are $20.00.

The production comprised of letters from US soldiers and their families is adapted for the stage by Artistic Director William Massolia from several sources including Frank Schaeffer's books, Voices From The Front, Faith of Our Sons and the New York Times series of articles, The Things They Wrote. The production once again will be directed by Jennie Cleghorn. Massolia has updated the piece by adding new letters to reflect the soldier experience today after almost five years of fighting. Additionally the company is in negotiations to bring the production to other venues around the country later in 2008 and 2009.

The Griffin is also working with WFMT radio to broadcast LETTERS HOME in its entirety this fall. The broadcast date is still to be determined. LETTERS HOME is one of three productions the Griffin will take on tour nationally this coming theatre season. The company's popular young audience production of FRINDLE will tour to New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the state of Alaska in April of 2008. The Griffin's world premiere adaptation of Andrew Clements THE LANDRY NEWS will tour to the state of Florida in the spring. -- www.theatrebuildingchicago.org
