Multi-platinum recording artist Jo Dee Messina proves the Schuster Center is a little bit country when she performs there on September 21. Jo Dee Messina has nine number one singles, has been honored by The Country Music Association, The Academy of Country Music and The Grammy Awards, and was the first female country artist to score three successive multiple-week number-one singles from the same album.
Jo Dee Messina has been absorbed in her career with country music since the age of 16, but was propelled toward superstardom in 1996 with the release of her self-titled album, boasting behind it a fierce personality to match her fiery locks. In fact, she landed a record deal with Curb Records when she announced to an executive that the label needed a redhead!
Messina's 1998 album I'm Alright was certified double platinum. Her 2000 album Burn shot up the country music charts to its place as the number-one country album in the United States. Delicious Surprise in 2005 was her second album to reach number-one on the country music charts. Messina is now focused on her latest release, Unmistakable.
Nashville-based Messina is known throughout the country music world as the feisty redhead with punch-packing lyrics. She sings about her struggles and her triumphs in strong, life- affirming songs as well as fun "kiss-off" songs like the hit "My Give a Damn's Busted." Jo Dee Messina is at the Schuster Center September 21, 2007 at 8 p.m.
Victoria Theatre Association's presentation of Jo Dee Messina is presented with support from Media Sponsor K99.1FM WHKO.
