Celebrities: Rachel Dratch Takes Stern’s Cake

Ex-SNL star says Stern is “too friendly with terrorists” – but friends say otherwise.

Former Saturday Night Live star Rachel Dratch bluffed her way into radio shock jock Howard Stern’s wedding reception at New York City's famed Le Cirque restaurant on Friday night, attempting to walk away with five large pieces of wedding cake tucked under a voluminous DKNY raincoat.

Caught by security guards, Dratch said only that she was taking the cake because Stern was “too friendly with terrorists.”

But friends of Dratch told authorities Dratch had taken the cake to serve guests at an acquittal party she was throwing for O.J. Simpson with fellow members of the Upright Citizens Brigade, a comedy troupe.

Dratch surrendered the cake to security without further incident and the issue of her motivation for the bizarre stunt remains unclear.

According to reports, Dratch got into the Stern wedding reception by impersonating Barbara Walters –- but was later tripped up when it turned out Walters was already there. It was Walters who tipped off security about her imposter.

Bride Beth Ostrosky wore a white chiffon Marquesa gown with cutaway back and sides. Officiating at the ceremony was actor Mark Consuelos, Kelly Ripa's husband and an ordained minister.

The 180 guests included Joan Rivers, Jimmy Kimmel, Sarah Silverman, Barbara Walters, Billy Joel, Steve Schirripa, Robin Quivers, Adam Carolla, Artie Lang, John Stamos, Chevy Chase, Tommy Mottola, and Donald and Melania Trump.

They dined on tuna tataki, scrambled eggs with white truffles and striped bass with caviar — washed down with wine and champagne. Songwriter Phoebe Snow serenaded the newlyweds with "You Send Me," and Joel crooned "The Stranger."

The 54-year-old radio personality popped the question to the 36-year-old model-actress on Valentine's Day 2007.

But as far back as 2006, Stern announced on his radio show that he and Ostrosky had already tied the knot, only to say later that it was a prank.

On Aug. 23, a family celebration at the couple's Hamptons home led some press to assume that the duo had quietly taken their trip down the aisle, though Ostrosky later revealed it was simply a celebration of their impending nuptials.

It's the first marriage for Ostrosky and the second for Stern, who split from first wife Alison Berns in 2000. Stern and his wife of 21 years had three daughters before divorcing in 2001. Their romance inspired his film "Private Parts."

For years after, he famously vowed he would never marry again, a flip-flop promise he explained away during a trip to the Late Show With David Letterman earlier this year.

"I'm a hypocritical liar, as you know," Stern said. "Things change, love happens, love blossoms."

On October 19, Dratch, Jack McBrayer, Seth Meyers, and Horatio Sanz will be among the participants in Give Food A Chance, a benefit for the new Mercy Corps Action Center, to take place at 8pm at the Highline Ballroom. The benefit is being presented by the Upright Citizens Brigade and Funny Or Die.
