Middle Eastern entertainment company Sherezade Films has joined forces with Kuwait Cable Vision (KVision) and Dubai-based Desert Door Productions in a bid to become a key player in the western independent film industry, the company announced on Thursday.
As one of the few Middle Eastern companies to have tapped into the western industry, Sherezade Films has co-financed and co-produced 12 Hollywood feature films over the past three years, including Smart People, starring Dennis Quaid and Sarah Jessica Parker, and New York I Love You, with Orlando Bloom and Natalie Portman
Media services company KVision and film and television production company Desert Door Productions have both invested heavily in the company to become major shareholders
The new funds will be put towards new western film productions, and acquisition of a film animation and distribution company, Sherezade Films revealed in a statement.
"This cooperation highlights the interest of regional media companies to not only leverage the existing Sherezade structure and gain know-how from the western film industry, but to actively get involved in this growing sector by co-producing quality entertainment content," said Ramez Tomeh, director of business development at Sherezade Management Company.
