SeaChange Software Leader Takes ‘40 Under Forty’ Accolades For Digital Television Accomplishment

SeaChange International, Inc. (NASDAQ: SEAC), which was founded and is headquartered in Massachusetts, is proud to announce that Brian Kahn, the company’s director of engineering for content personalization, has been named to the Worcester Business Journal’s fifth annual “40 Under Forty” list.

Consistently ranked as one of the state’s largest software companies, SeaChange has provided on-demand, advertising and content delivery services for the world’s biggest media companies for nearly 15 years.

The list recognized 40 businesspeople (under the age of 40) from the Central Massachusetts and MetroWest/I-495 areas for their business accomplishments and ongoing community service/volunteer activities, especially within the past year.

“Brian and our talented employee base have empowered SeaChange to move the needle in digital television services for our local and worldwide customers including Comcast, Verizon, Virgin Media (U.K.) and NTT (Japan),” said Steve Davi, vice president of software engineering for SeaChange. “We’re very proud that Brian has been recognized for his innovation, leadership and efforts in the community.”

Kahn has been leading a team of 20 video and software engineers who are building consumer generated content technologies that will ultimately enable cable and telco subscribers to manage and push personalized and various forms of Internet content to their televisions for sharing with family, friends and other parties. Kahn and SeaChange’s efforts with these next-generation technologies will help facilitate the future of television entertainment by connecting consumers to content and consumers to consumers.

Kahn has an extensive background at SeaChange in digital television advertising insertion and on-demand. Since joining the company in 1997, he has played an integral role in the launch of a number of the company’s solutions, including the release of the industry’s first live TSI (transport stream insertion) system as well as the company’s Axiom Recording System, which automatically captures scheduled broadcast TV programming for immediate on-demand access.

An active member of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE), Kahn initially authored the standard procedure for delivering advertisements in digital television. He has also helped define numerous standards for targeted advertising in both linear and on-demand content.

Kahn has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and built furniture and other crafts for the Eastern Massachusetts Guild of Woodworkers. He resides in Arlington with his wife.-SeaChange International
