Morton has held a number of positions in South Carolina, Atlanta, Ga., and Washington, D.C., where he served as vice president of legislation and chief of staff of the BellSouth Governmental Relations office.
"South Carolina is my home state and will always hold a special place in my heart, but Tennessee is also a great place and I look forward to this exciting opportunity," said Morton.
Morton has been involved in leadership roles in numerous community and civic organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America, the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce and the advisory board of the School of Business and Behavioral Science at Clemson University. He is a former chairman of the Board of Regents for Leadership South Carolina and past chairman of the Clemson University Board of Visitors.

"We look forward to his leadership in Tennessee as we continue to provide our customers with the newest products and best communications service available."
A replacement for Morton has not been named. Morton will replace Marty Dickens, who has announced his retirement, effective Oct. 1.-AT&T
