Queensland teachers will receive free entry to The Workshops Rail Museum in October and November 2007. In addition, all Queensland schools receive free entry to the Museum during school hours year round.
Director of The Workshops Rail Museum Andrew Moritz said the offer would give teachers time to explore the exhibits and plan a learning experience before visiting with a class.
"The Workshops Rail Museum offers a wide range of interactive educational programs based on railway themes, including the Industrial Revolution, energy and change and the history and future of transport in Queensland," Mr Moritz said.
The Museum's Education Officer is a registered teacher and has designed a range of activities that connect with current Queensland school curriculum programs.
The Museum also offers education kits, worksheets, fact sheets and activity trails suitable for lesson plans and self-guided tours at www.theworkshops.qm.qld.gov.au.
Resources in other Key Learning Areas including Maths, English and SOSE can be created by the Museum's Education Officer upon request.
As a campus of the Queensland Museum, The Workshops has access to a wide range of education resources including a vast cultural and historical knowledge base and the multi-award winning Queensland Museum Loans Service.
Teachers will require proof of teacher registration upon entry to be admitted free during October and November. -- www.qm.qld.gov.au
