Musica Viva Australia By Canberra Theatre

Stephen Hough will present 'Musica Viva Australia' at Canberra Theatre, on Thursday, 27 September 2007, at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $61.00.

Stephen Hough deploys his phenomenal technique with great intelligence and warmth. His extensive international performing schedule has not stopped him forming a deep attatchment to Australia, and he became an Australian citizen in 2003.

This fascinating program shows Stephen's delight in neglected and challenging juxtapositions. In the first half, masterful classical works by Beethoven and Mendelssohn are united by Ross Edwards' atmospheric Kumari. The second is comprised entirely of waltzes, each one providing opportunities for delicacy and virtuosity while building towards the program's flamboyant and devillish finale.

Stephen Hough draws his audience to the very depth of his imagination, apparently without effort. The technique and inventiveness of this musical mesmerist and unparalleled. -- www.canberratheatre.org.au
