Last body pulled from collapsed building in Baku

The last body of a worker was pulled from the rubble of a collapsed multi-story building in Baku, Azerbaijan's capital, bringing the death toll to 25, a spokesman for the emergency situations ministry said.

The identification of the body is underway, and the rescue operation has ended, Tural Museyibov said.

The high-rise building under construction collapsed August 28 as a result of safety regulations breaches at the construction site.

Police have already arrested the CEO of the construction company, Ali Muradov, the chief engineer, Asker Aliyev, a local official, and two construction managers.

Investigators said work at the site began five years ago, and that 16 floors had been built by the time of the collapse. - RIA Novosti
