Virginia Opera's Tenor Dan Snyder To Sing A Freedom Walk

Tenor Dan Snyder, who stars in the title role of Virginia Opera's upcoming production of Tales of Hoffmann, will make a special appearance at Harbor Park at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, to sing The Star-Spangled Banner in commencement of the annual America Supports You Freedom Walk.

As a U.S. Army chorus soloist after serving with the U.S. Marines, Mr. Snyder gained extensive experience singing the anthem long before he first debuted with Virginia Opera in 2005.

He and his wife make their primary home in Tennille, Ga., and are proud of their two sons, both Marines. One just returned from a second tour of duty in Iraq, the other is there now serving his first.

The walk is recognized as part of Hampton Roads Freedom Week.

"America Supports You is a nationwide program launched by the Department of Defense to recognize citizens' support for our military men and women and to communicate that support to members of our Armed Forces at home and abroad. The Hampton Roads Region recognizes the week surrounding September 11th as one of remembrance for all Americans that democratic freedom can never be taken for granted." -- www.vaopera.org
