Canberra Theatre Presents Indigo Girls

The distinctive sound of American folk rock duo the Indigo Girls returns to Canberra Theatre on Monday, 29 October 2007, at 7:30 PM.

After twenty years of making music together, Emily Saliers and Amy Ray are touring in support of their new album "Despite Our Differences". With their beautiful harmonies, practised voices and thoughtful lyrics, the Indigo Girls are a true testament to the power of folk. In their first two decades the highly accomplished pair received seven Grammy nominations, sold more than 12 million albums and garnered great critical acclaim.

Their straight-ahead take on Americana rock, and hauntingly melodic signature sound, full of sweet hooks and intertwined, overlapping harmonies has won over critics and fans alike. "Emily Saliers and Amy Ray weave such a taut tapestry of sound that you'd think they were a single entity." - San Francisco Chronicle

"They possess voices that are unflinching in pitch and emotive timbre, which they combine in harmonies that lock tighter than a battle line" the New York Times "their voices soar and swoop as one... and when they sing together, they radiate a sense of shared purpose..." - Rolling Stone -- www.canberratheatre.org.au
