The magical pantomime Sleeping Beauty runs at the Grand Theatre, Blackpool from Friday 7th December 2007 to Saturday 5th January 2008.
This year's fabulous family panto will star the wonderful Ruth Madoc (Hi-De-Hi and Little Britain) as the Good Fairy; the hilarious Steve Royle (BBC Radio Lancashire) making his fifth panto appearance in a row at the Grand as Silly Billy; Iain Rogerson (Coronation Street's Harry Flag) as King; Douglas Mounce (Terry & June, Casualty and Crown Court) as Nurse Nelly and Natalie Cleverley as the Bad Fairy. Jessica Punch (42nd Street) plays the beautiful Princess Briar Rose and Shaun Dalton is the handsome Prince.
Sleeping Beauty tells the tale of a beautiful Princess who is placed under a spell at her christening by a wicked fairy who has been overlooked on the invite list. The Bad Fairy says that on reaching adulthood, the Princess will prick her finger on a spindle and die. The Good Fairy, though unable to completely reverse the spell, says the Princess will instead sleep for a hundred years until awakened by the kiss of a handsome prince.
This year's traditional pantomime at the Grand will be full of music and dance, fun and laughter with fabulous costumes and lavish sets – suitable for all the family this Christmas!
Sleeping Beauty is brought to you by Martin Dodd and Peter Frosdick for UK Productions - the company which has presented some of the most critically acclaimed touring musicals in recent years, such as Anything Goes, Carousel, 42nd Street, Seven Brides For Seven Brothers and of course the current UK premiere of South Pacific. UK Productions has also produced pantomimes at The Grand Theatre for the past nine years. -- www.blackpoolgrand.co.uk
