Family Days are usually scheduled on the third Saturday of every month, and programs are designed primarily for children from the preschool years through 8th grade and their families. Specific age recommendations vary by topic.
A variety of programs are planned throughout the day. The day begins with a Family Tour at 10 a.m. and a Storytime program at 11:30 a.m. These programs are open to the public, are free and require no pre-registration.
An "Aerospace Adventure" begins at 1:30 p.m. for families with children in grades 4-8. The program varies by month and may include such topics as the four forces of flight, how an airplane flies, the International Space Station, space colonies, hot air balloons, rockets, kites, etc. Programs may require a small materials fee.
Some "Aerospace Adventure" topics and activities may qualify as fulfillment for Boy Scout or Girl Scout badges.
In addition, a number of "Aerospace Demo Stations" are set up in various locations within the museum, and these demonstrations take place throughout the day. Stop by one or more of the stations and learn about a fun aviation and/or aerospace principle!
