The event on Tuesday 9 January will be facilitated by one of the UK's leading psychologists Richard Wiseman"Å¡ University of Hertfordshire"Å¡ who will be revealing results from his brand new research on the psychology of resolutions (more details TBA).
Alongside Professor Wiseman will be experts in smoking"Å¡ fitness and nutrition who will not only look at the psychological element of resolutions"Å¡ but also investigate the effects of alcohol"Å¡ smoke"Å¡ poor diet and lack of exercise on the body.
The free event takes place at the Dana Centre - the Science Museum's adults-only venue for discussing contemporary science"Å¡ medicine"Å¡ technology and the environment.
Experts at New Year"Å¡ New You! are:
"¢ Smoking specialist Robert West"š Professor of Health Psychology"š University College London as he explores the nicotine-starved smoker's world. What hope do smokers have in the face of the impending smoking ban? Is the anti-smoking drug Varenicline really the answer? He'll also investigate the happiness of ex-smokers"š whether there are genes for addiction"š and what factors trigger a relapse.
"¢ Fat Panel gurus Sarah Berry and Sian Porter will be on hand to lift the lid on detox myths and ascertain what counts as fatty fact or fatty fiction and explain how to eat yourself healthy.
"¢ Fitness expert and author Sam Murphy will be giving advice on how to get fit
"¢ Sport and exercise psychologist James Beale"š University of East London"š will be discussing how we can be inspired to realise our full potential.
The event will close with a last word from Comedy Store Player Neil Mullarkey as uber-guru 'L.Vaughan Spencer' as he movitiates the audience with his catchphrase don't be needy"Å¡ be suceedy!
