At the dawn of the great celebrations for Québec City's 400th anniversary, Mr. Christie's Québec Winter Carnival is proud to present a totally new and original concept for its 2008 night parade.
Specially created for this exceptional anniversary, the Carnival Parade will contribute to highlighting the joie de vivre of Quebeckers and the quality of what is produced here. Presented next February 9 and 16, the 2008 Mr. Christie's night parade will surprise and awe spectators – fresh and exciting allegorical elements, such as two 24-foot tall marionettes with moving joints, unprecedented interactive lighting, a unique sound track, a common theme throughout the sequences, numerous multimedia projections, and 1200 new costumes for the extras.
"The 2008 parade will be a totally novel experience. We are proud to present an innovative and original concept that will be sure to delight carnival-goers. The parades will be the culmination of our 2008 programming. Believe me, the Carnival will make a joyful noise and set the tone for a year of celebrations!" stated Karine Primard, president of the 54th annual Carnival.
Every winter, the Carnival parades are synonymous with great gatherings and encounters, and their success is due to the amazing treats they provide for the eyes and ears. The 2008 parades will be no exception...the talents of Théâtre de la Dame de Cœur, the Carnival's know-how and the collaboration of Société du 400e anniversaire de Québec will contribute to allowing everyone to experience and celebrate Québec City's anniversary in grand style. "We are delighted to associate with the Carnival for the new night parades. This is a marvellous opportunity to make the festivities one's own, and we invite all of Québec City's citizens and visitors, our carnival-goers, to be part of it!" mentioned Pierre Boulanger, President and CEO of Société du 400e anniversaire de Québec.
Carnival Expertise Created entirely by the Carnival Workshop, the new parade will require no less than 17,000 hours of preparation. Between now and the presentations, the Carnival Workshop will also participate in a number of other projects, such as the Santa Claus Parade, to be presented in Montreal this coming November.
To carry out its mandates, the Carnival Workshop employs close to 25 people each year. In 2008, the first extravagant event to fly the 400th anniversary colours, Mr. Christie's Québec Winter Carnival will set the tone with the presentation of the majestic all-new night parades, offering great festive gatherings for everyone.
