According to the Associated Press, “George Eisenhart Jr. suffered severe internal injuries when he was hit by the huge truck Saturday at the Motor Sports Monster Truck & Thrill Show at the Dane County Coliseum, the coroner said. The show was immediately halted.”
Eisenhart died upon walking in front of the Monster Truck and suffering fatal injuries. The Dave County Coroner says it was an accident. Monster Truck Drivers must deal with a large “blind spot” due to the height of the vehicle and this is most likely what caused the accident.
Eisenhart, 41, was the shows promoter as well as announcer and frequently spoke of the Monster Truck shows safety rating. He was quoted as recently as the day before the accident telling WKOW in Madison that: “This is our 16th year, and I wish I had a big piece of wood to knock on right now, but we have not had an incident besides a gal slipping in the aisle at another location."
On Jan. 16 another fatality occurred when a six year old boy lost his life at a Monster Truck show in Washington. The young boy was struck on the head by a piece of debris that flew out of the arena. Another man was seriously injured. Only eight days separated the two incidents.
Eisenhart’s Monster Truck accident was caught on video by an amateur cinematographer who attended the event.
