Plant And Krauss Sweep the Grammy's With "Raising Sand"

Former Led Zeppelin front man, Robert Plant, and bluegrass queen Allison Krauss swept the Grammy’s with their collaborative album, Raising Sand.

The album managed to pull down five different Grammy’s including the coveted Album and Record of the year awards.

According to Plant, the album is a combination of “American rhythm and blues and shimmy.” Plant and Krauss also rocked the stage as they performed two of the songs from the award winning album; the slow, spooky Rich Woman and the rockabilly-fueled Gone Gone Gone (Done Moved On).

Plant said he, Krauss and producer T-Bone Burnett initially figured they'd try working together for three days and then have a nice dinner. Instead, they completed an entire album that became a surprising blockbuster, selling 1.2 million copies; reports the Star-Tribune.

“Thank you so much. We are thrilled,” Krauss said as she and Plant accepted their Album of the Year trophy.

Krauss has now managed to win more Grammy’s than any other female performing artist with a total of 26 awards to her credit. Plant, on the other hand, despite being one of the most well known voices of rock and fronting the paradigm shifting Led Zeppelin only has eight Grammy’s; none of which were awarded to him as the front man of Zeppelin.
