In the midst of a steroid use scandal Alex “A-Rod” Rodriguez has gone public to blast Selena Roberts, the Sports Illustrator reporter who exposed the story.
Upon publishing information that in 2003 A-Rod tested positive steroid use, the baseball star declared that Selena Roberts was stalking him. In an interview with ESPN’s Peter Gammon’s, Rodriguez said “What makes me upset is that Sports Illustrated pays this lady, Selena Roberts, to stalk me.”
The scandalized sports star went on to say that Roberts was ejected from his New York City apartment building, that she had to be escorted off of the University Miami campus by police when she sought out him at the campus gym on Thursday and that she tried to break into his Miami home where his "children were sleeping".
Selena Roberts responded in a Q & A session with Sports Illustrated, saying that the accusations were “absurd”. She then affirmed that she'd never been to his apartment or his Miami home and that she'd never had any run-ins with police at the University of Miami campus.
Though, according to Newsday, she did acknowledge driving by Rodriguez's house after receiving permission from Miami Beach police to drive on public property near A-Rod's home. Roberts also asked for and received permission from security at the University of Miami to enter the school's gym and talk to Rodriguez on Thursday.
Both Selena Robert’s and David Epstein may still face subpoenas from the judge hearing the Barry Bond’s perjury case to discover the source of the information. The reporters may even face potential jail time should they choose to not divulge their sources; a fate which has occurred various time in the past.
