It’s official the first lady will be on the cover of the March edition of Vogue magazine. Photographed by famed photographer Annie Leibowitz and sporting another classic Jason Wu designed dress; Michelle Obama will be the second first lady to grace the cover of the upscale magazine.
The photo has Mrs. Obama in a magenta dress seated on a sofa in the Hay Adams Hotel in Washington, DC; where the Obamas stayed days before the inauguration. Inside the magazine the first lady also appears wearing designers like Narcisco Rodriguez, the designer of the election night dress; and J. Crew, which she and her children have famously worn.
According to the Associated Press, the article that accompanies the eight page spread focuses primarily on Mrs. Obama's self-described role as "mom in chief" to 10-year-old Malia and 7-year-old Sasha. Though, considering the magazine, fashion is definitely unavoidable as well.
"I'm not going to pretend that I don't care about it [fashion]," she said. "But I also have to be very practical. In the end, someone will always not like what you wear — people just have different tastes."
Current Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton was the only first lady to ever have made the cover of the magazine back in 1998.
