Canberra Theatre will present Musica Viva Australia by Brentano String Quartet on Thursday, 29 November 2007, at 7:00 PM.

Since its inception in 1992, the Brentano String Quartet (named after Antoine Brentano, whom many believe to be Beethoven’s ‘Immortal Beloved’) has gathered a string of international awards and now claims a place in the top chelons of international chamber music.

Its success is founded on the four balanced principles of throrough scholarship, engagement with the full spectrum of Western music, flawless technique and performance dynamism. The dazzling effect of this balance will be clear in the group’s first Australian concerts in a decade, ranging from the Renaissance through to the world premiere of Ross Edwards’ new string quartet, passing Haydn, Beethoven and Bartok along its daring dash through history.

The Brentano’s technical perfection, driving passion and analytical curiosty combine to unearth a startling new discovery - in old music as well as new - at every performance. CARL VINE -- www.canberratheatre.org.au
