San Francisco Museum will present Les Femmes Impressionnistes: Mary Cassatt, Berthe Morisot, Eva Gonzalès, Marie BracquemondJune through September 21, 2008.
At the time Impressionism was born, female artists were starting to come to the forefront of the art world.
Les Femmes Impressionnistes breaks new ground in feminist art history by looking at the work and contributions of four female Impressionists together for the first time in the United States. Many of the works deal with images of women: women at home, women with family, and women at leisure.
A catalogue accompanies this exhibition, organized by the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt and FAMSF. -- www.thinker.org
