Health Secretary Dr. Calvin B. Johnson today invited Pennsylvanians to take advantage of free health assessments being offered in medically-underserved areas of the state from Sept. 17-21. The free health services are available in conjunction with “Take a Loved One to the Doctor Day,” which is observed on Sept. 18.

“Nearly 800,000 Pennsylvanians lack health insurance and a recent Department of Health survey found that 11 percent of Pennsylvania adults opted not to go to the doctor when they needed to in the past year because they couldn’t afford it,” said Dr. Johnson. “Governor Rendell is committed to making health care affordable and accessible for all Pennsylvanians, and ‘Take a Loved One to the Doctor Day’ is just one way in which we can make that happen.”
