AT&T Launches Wireless Discount Program for Students

AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) today announced an agreement with Armstrong Atlantic State University that gives students access to discounted wireless rate plans and devices. This agreement is the first one of its kind for AT&T in the Georgia University system.

When students activate service through AT&T, they are eligible to receive a 10 percent discount off the monthly reoccurring service fee for AT&T's GSM Nation plans. Students can inquire about new service or add the discount to an existing plan either by visiting the local AT&T retail store at 7426 Hodgson Memorial Drive or by going online to att.com/wireless/ArmstrongASU.

According to a study from IDC, there are approximately 40 million youth and young adult wireless subscribers aged 5 to 24. This age category is expected to top 60 million subscribers by 2009.

"We have seen a phenomenal amount of growth of cell phone usage with students on

campus," said John McGuthry, AASU chief information officer. "All of our future strategies with telecommunications, as well as emergency planning, take advantage of this growth."

"From instant messaging, text and video messages, mobile e-mail, Internet-surfing to wireless music and more, today's youth are using it all and have high expectations for their wireless services," said Cliff Minor, vice president and general manager, AT&T's wireless operations in Georgia. "We are excited to give students at Armstrong Atlantic State University access to these special discounts for AT&T wireless service because mobile technology is playing a bigger role in how college students communicate with friends and relatives and stay organized."

And for the parents or anyone who is responsible for a child's wireless phone bill, AT&T recently announced AT&T Smart Limits for Wireless™, which enables the account holder to set up limits on text and instant messages, downloads and time-of-day restrictions, block calls/text messages to/from numbers, and filter inappropriate content. This service can help AT&T customers avoid any unexpected charges.-AT&T
