Israel takes a turn for the worse

In what is surely bad news for the world Benjamin Netanyahu, with the support of Israel's religious right, is set to assume the position of Prime Minister.

First and foremost this is terrible news for the suffering Palestinian people. Benjamin Netanyahu is committed to expanding settlements, increasing checkpoints, and essentially crushing the Palestinian people and their quest for statehood.

Secondly this is bad for Israel. Israel will never have the peace its people so desperately want and need, if they do not stop the cruel and immoral occupation of the Gaza strip and the west bank.

Finally this is bad for the United States. Like all American leadership, the Obama administration has proclaimed its unswerving support of Israel and its policies; a move that causes hatred of the United States all over the world, a hatred that will surely increase as Netanyahu and his Likud party increase the misery of the Palestinians and intensify the Israeli Policies that have led to apartheid in the occupied territories.

This is simply horrible news. The situation is really intolerable for the suffering Palestinians and it looks like now, odds are, it's going to become a great deal worse.
