Michael Jackson jokes go way over the line

Michael Jackson was a musical sensation whose contribution to music will remain for a long time to come. Michael Jackson was also a very troubled and eccentric person. Yes Michael Jackson was weird. He may even have been a a child molester (no one will ever really know that truth about that) but I am troubled by the tasteless jokes about Michael Jackson's death that were up and all over the net from the moment Mr. Jackson was dead. To a lesser degree, Farah Fawcett's death has been joked about too.

The Jokes about Michael jackson deal with children. Cartoons have been posted all over the net, and a quick look at twitter will yeild massive jokes about the king of pop. Most of these jokes focus on "jesus juice." a Drink Michael jack son allegedly gave a child to drug him. Many of them make fun of Jackson’s eccentricities. Sadly, some of them make joking speculations of the details of Jackson’s death. See the video for the sincere reactions of Jackson's grieving fans.

Look, humor about the tragic death of a man only 50, or his equally tragic life, are simply in poor form. No one deserves to be treated this way. Equally, child molestation is NOT a laughing matter and mocking it is not "cool." Even Michael Jackson, however weird he was - whatever he might have done - should be left to rest in peace. And really the idea that a man could be dead for a few short hour and the net be quickly flooded with jokes, suggest that something is very wrong with or culture.

Far more disturbing have been the jokes, albeit far fewer of them, about Farah Fawcett. These jokes portray her as a woman of loose morals, and also some people think the type of cancer she had was "funny" because of the part of her anatomy involved. Well, look the tragic and painful death of any human being from Cancer is disgusting; not funny. It is wildly inappropriate and cruel.

So please people, cease the jokes about Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett. Let them rest in peace, and do not make their tragic deaths fodder for stupid and cruel jesting. Also, a quick message to major news networks like CNN. Enough coverage and analysis of celebrity deaths. There is a major social revolution still going on in Iran and it needs better coverage.
