Former Iraqi Minister Who Escaped Prison Arrives In Jordan

Jordanian Prime Minister Maruf al-Bakhit says a former Iraqi cabinet minister who escaped from detention in Baghdad earlier this month has arrived in Jordan.

Al-Bakhit said Ayham al-Samaraie, who holds dual U.S. and Iraqi citizenship, arrived on a U.S. plane.

He said Iraq has not demanded al-Samaraie's extradition, and did not give his location.

Al-Samaraie was electricity minister during the Iraqi transitional government set up in 2003, and was imprisoned in August on corruption charges.
