Syntacta Translation & Interpreting is an independent business which is part of the University of Bath’s Department of European Studies & Modern Languages and Foreign Languages Centre and is located in the Oakfield Campus at the University of Bath in Swindon.
The company is launching the website in response to a growing demand for its services from businesses realising the potential of markets abroad, and to make information on languages accessible to a wider audience.
Businesses will be able to use a new online quotation form for a quick estimate on translation work. A noticeboard facility will give language news, promote local and national language events and offer interesting and curious facts on featured languages. The website will be translated into six languages: French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian and Polish.
“The new website is building on the company’s successes of the past two years,” said Andrew Mann, Translation Manager at Syntacta. “We’re as client focused as it’s possible to be and as a result we have trebled our turnover, and have just recruited a new project manager to handle our growing workload.”
The company employs up to 100 qualified translators around the world to supply translation and interpreting services to local, national and international businesses. They each specialise in different business areas such as tourism, finance and engineering.
Contracts range from large-scale interpreting and translation services for organisations such as Mercedes Benz and Visit London to translations of documents and personal correspondence for members of the public. The company frequently translates birth certificates, insurance documents and recently a tattoo.
Syntacta is currently working with Toyota in Japan to translate voice and screen messages for its latest in-car satellite navigation system into 15 languages.-University of Bath
