In continuation of Rienzi's partnership with Houston Grand Opera, which began in September 2006, Rienzi director Katherine Howe and HGO General Director Anthony Freud released the HGO Studio Recital 2007-2008 schedule, which includes four programs.

The first recital is planned for Friday, September 28, followed by a repeat performance on Saturday, September 29 in Rienzi's magnificent gallery and ballroom. Rienzi, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston's house museum of European decorative arts, is located at 1406 Kirby Drive. The series is generously underwritten by Margaret Alkek Williams.

Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and guests have an opportunity to explore the historic home and beautiful gardens. September's program, Sarcasm and Spirituality: Songs from Modern Minds, features tenor Beau Gibson, mezzo sopranos Maria Markina and Jamie Barton, and soprano Faith Sherman, with Kathleen Kelly accompanying. The repertoire includes songs by Modest Mussorgsky (1839-1881), Charles Ives (1874-1954), Benjamin Britten (1913-1976), and Dmitri Shostakovich (1906-1975). Wine and hors d'oeuvres are served at intermission.
