In March 2007, SN Brussels Airlines and Virgin Express merged to become Brussels Airlines. Immediately thereafter they decided to consolidate flight operations and migrate the combined fleet onto one single flight planning and slot management system. After a thorough market evaluation and benchmark comparisons, Brussels Airlines selected EDS Flight Planning with the slot management module as their future flight planning system.
“We have an existing and excellent business relationship with EDS,” said Thibault Demoulin, vice president Brussels Airlines Flight Operations. “EDS has a proven and professional support organization and acceptable price and value ratio – which are the criteria we used when awarding our flight planning operations to EDS.”
“Brussels Airlines values flexibility, punctuality, reliability, excellent service and guaranteed low cost fares,” said Pierre Klatt, leader of EDS' EMEA Transportation industry group. “By using EDS Flight Planning Services, Brussels Airlines will increase aircraft utilization and productivity, decrease operating costs, and minimize fuel consumption.”
“This implementation is a milestone for EDS, as we continue to grow our global footprint in the air services segment,” said Eric Harte, global leader of EDS Air Services industry group. “EDS is constantly looking for new and innovative ways to bring world-class technology solutions and infrastructure to help airlines and transportation customers sustain competitive advantage in a tightly constrained market.”
