On September 28 from 6-10 p.m., Denver's culture vultures are invited to find out what happens when traditions, materials and identities fuse at Untitled #8 (Hybrid). Art novices and art experts alike will enjoy this collision of ideas at the Museum's eighth Untitled final-Friday event.
Untitled #8 (Hybrid) will feature the innovative music of Beatrix*JAR, an aural art duo that rewires circuits from familiar toys to create raw new sounds. Performance artist Damaris will create her own hybrid version of curious visitors, and an anthropologist will serve as a guide on a detour through the Museum's collections.
Anyone can drop in on the Museum's first-ever fusion dance class, featuring a combination of flamenco, salsa, belly dancing and more. Finally, Denver's own Ian Cooke will use his cello and voice to create art for the ear during the evening. Many artists call their work "Untitled" so there's nothing to limit how each viewer perceives the art. Similarly, anything can happen at our series of Untitled events. Like the final-Friday event of every month, Untitled #8 (Hybrid) will offer music, a cash bar and other offbeat encounters with art, all with a dose of the unexpected.
Untitled final-Friday night events are all included in regular Museum admission. Students presenting valid IDs receive 2-for-1 admission when tickets are purchased on-site. Catering is provided by Bistro Boys Catering and Gourmet Fine Catering. On October 26, visitors will experience the lavish and luxurious lives of the French Kings Louis at Untitled #9 (Deluxe), celebrating the Museum's new exhibition, Artisans & Kings: Selected Treasures from the Louvre.
At the final-Friday event in November, Untitled #10 (Chroma), they can soak up a myriad of hues on November 30 as the Museum introduces Color As Field, a new modern and contemporary exhibit. -- www.denverartmuseum.org
