My adventure through Sinnoh has been more action-packed than I expected. Sure, I knew I would run into lots of Trainers and Wild Pokémon, but I didn’t realise how much adventure was waiting for me. I’ve been walking around for something like 20 hours and have only added about 61 Pokémon to Prof. Rowan’s Pokédex. There are 129 spots in the Pokédex, so it looks like I’ve got a ways to go to find the other 68.
In my research, I’ve seen on the Global Trade Station website lots of these Pokémon I haven’t battled yet. I only used the GTS once when I traded my Pokémon for Kricketot, but looking at that website, I see there are tons of Pokémon that people around the world are wanting to trade.
Of course, it’s more fun to discover Pokémon through my travels, but there are some Pokémon that are pretty tough for me to catch because they’re so rare. Plus, some Pokémon only come out at night, and I do most of my adventuring during the day. With the GTS, I can trade some of my day-caught Pokémon with people who only go out at night.
When I went to the GTS website, I was blown away by the number of Pokémon that people wanted to trade. Not only did the website show me which Pokémon were recently traded, it also showed which attacks these Pokémon had learned. The site showed me other cool stats, like the most-traded Pokémon, how many people were trading in a country and even some information about each country in which Trainers were trading Pokémon. I could find stats from 26 countries! That’s a lot of Pokémon. Can you believe there are a half-million people trading Pokémon online in Japan?
It’s cool that I can trade Pokémon with people everywhere, but I really hope to fill up my Pokédex through my journey. There are things I’m learning on this adventure - people whom I’m meeting, places I’m discovering – that I can’t get online, but I’m glad the GTS is there.
As Prof. Rowan said to me when my adventure began, there’s a thrill you get by meeting Pokémon, by battling Pokémon, that can’t be matched anywhere else. So with that, I’m off. My path is still a long one and the thrills are as intense as ever. Anything short of filling up this Pokédex is failure in my book. Then again, I would rather try and fail than never to try at all. I know I have it in me to complete my journey. I just know it. -Nintendo
