Nigeria: Muslim Man Attacks Christian Woman in Abuja

A young Nigerian Christian woman was manhandled by a Muslim man in the rainfall near a popular market by a mosque in Abuja, Nigeria.

The young Christian woman was attacked as she walked into the midst of praying Muslims on the street in front of a mosque.

She wanted to avoid being drenched in the rain and had to pass through the sidewalk where Muslims were having their Jumat. She said one angry one hit her on the chest and face for daring to use the public sidewalk the Muslims always converted to their praying ground by a mosque every Friday. She said there was no other way she could take in the rainfall, except the public sidewalk.

She reported the incident to the Nigerian Times International in a phone call from Abuja.

"I want to make a very serious complaint of Islamic brutality during the Jumat of this Friday at a mosque near a popular market in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria," said a concerned Nigerian news reporter in an email to the Muslim Association of Nigeria in the UK. And another complaint has been sent to the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN).

“The Muslim man was unreasonable and wicked. This is an act of brutality against an innocent young woman, who was obedient to go the market in the rain for her mother," said the guardian of the young Nigerian Christian woman.
"There was no justification for this unreasonable and inhuman public molestation of a young Nigerian woman by a wicked Muslim man."

Muslims often attack Christians in the Islamic northern regions of Nigeria. But Christians still welcome Muslims in the predominantly Christian southern Nigeria.
