Chevrolet - the Official Vehicle of the State Fair of Texas - Will Be Flying High with Soaring Displays, Captivating Concept Cars, Games and Prizes, and Live Entertainment
Chevrolet is taking the State Fair of Texas to new heights with an array of fun-filled activities for the whole family when the longest-running State Fair in the country gets underway September 28 through October 21.
Along with the State’s largest auto show in the Southwest, Chevy will host an interactive display of 2008 model cars and trucks, a Fishing Boat Simulator to enjoy, an exhibit on Gas-friendly to Gas-free options, a showcase by Team Chevy Racing, a ride-and-drive area where consumers can put the pedal to the metal in a Chevy vehicle, and a line-up of great live music.
"Chevrolet is pleased to continue as a proud partner of the State Fair of Texas," said Jay Allen, Chevrolet Marketing Manager for GM’s South Central region. "Fair-goers will be treated to some amazing Chevrolet displays including the all-new Malibu and the Dale Jr. Silverado, a fantastic ride and drive, interactive games and so much more. There is truly something for everyone."
Auto Show & Vehicle Showcases:
The State Fair of Texas is home to the biggest new car show in the Southwest, filling two huge exhibit halls and greeting more than three million visitors each year. A highlight of the show will be Chevrolet’s showcase of the all-new 2008 Chevy Malibu, the Tahoe Hybrid, the Orange County Chopper Silverado, and the Dale Jr. "Big Red" Silverado.
As fair-goers enjoy all of the sights and sounds of the State Fair of Texas, they will also be able to check out the entire family of Chevrolet vehicles on display throughout the 277-acre fairgrounds.
Ride and Drive :
Drivers aged 21-years or older can climb behind the wheel of a new 2008 Chevrolet car or truck and take it for a spin. A host of vehicles will be available for testing out, including: the 2008 Tahoe, Suburban, Silverado, Colorado, Avalanche, Equinox, Impala SS, HHR Trailblazer SS, or Cobalt. The 90,000 square foot closed course, filled with twists and turns, starts and stops, bumps and smooth straight-aways, is guaranteed to put driving skills through the paces. The Chevy Ride-and-Drive, located near Gate 11, is open daily and is free for qualified licensed drivers.
Chevy Racing Tour:
The Chevy Racing Tour is back again this year bringing along 2007 Daytona 500 winner Kevin Harvick’s #29 Monte Carlo, the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) Corvette and more. A racing pit box with an interactive Xbox gaming system to play, fair-goers will feel like they part of the racing action.
Gas-Friendly to Gas-Free Display:
For those looking for more fuel efficiency, Chevrolet has a large display area on alternative fuels along with product specialists on-site to help answer any questions about E85. The display will also include a showcase of vehicles small to large that are E85 FlexFuel compatible. Interactive games featuring an E85 theme like the Dueling Bushels game (toss ears of corn into a bushel basket) makes learning fun for kids of all ages.
The State Fair of Texas officially opens to the public on Friday, September 28 and comes to a close on Sunday, October 21. The fair is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is $14 per person.
