Trolltech, Motorola expand agreement on Linux-based phone platform

Trolltech today announced an expanded agreement with Motorola regarding the use of Qtopia Core as the native application development platform for Motorola’s Linux-based mobile phone platform.

As part of the agreement, Trolltech will provide Motorola with a Qtopia-based SDK for their phone platform. The native Linux Software Development Kit (SDK), based on Qtopia Core will be available for distribution to Motorola’s developer community in the future. .

“Motorola’s endorsement and commitment has established Linux as a leading platform for mobile phones. To date they have shipped over 9 million Linux and Qtopia based phones, and now as they deploy MOTOMAGX-based phones around the world, we are going to see that number skyrocket,” said Haavard Nord, Co-CEO of Trolltech.-Trolltech:
