Phoenix Symphony Grooves To Music Of 1960s

Guest Pops Conductor Jack Everly opens The Phoenix Symphony's Pop Series with music from the 1960s in a special Pops weekend of concerts entitled "The Beat Goes On!" on October 5 and 6. The weekend of Pops concerts is part of the "APS Pops" concert series and includes music by The Beatles, Burt Bacharach, Frankie Valli, The Supremes, and many more from the tie-dyed decade.

The Friday and Saturday evening concerts begin at 8 p.m. at Symphony Hall in downtown Phoenix. Saturday's concert is sponsored by Ryan Companies.

This Pops weekend features Guest Pops Conductor Jack Everly as he leads The Phoenix Symphony and guest vocalists in medleys of music by The Beatles, Burt Bacharach, The Supremes, Sonny and Cher, and other beloved artists from the 1960s. The concert also includes hits from the big screen such as the Theme from Love Story and "Lara's Theme" from Dr. Zhivago alongside a medley featuring music from favorite television shows of the tie-dyed decade.

Tickets to hear "The Beat Goes On!" with Jack Everly are $25, $35, $45, $54, $64, and $74, and can be purchased by calling the Phoenix Symphony Box Office at 602.495.1999 or by visiting the Symphony's website.

This weekend of concerts is the first concert in the Pops Series during The Phoenix Symphony's 2007-08 Season.
