New High-Tech Repair Centre in the Czech Republic

The Silicon Valley company Solectron Corporation is set to build a new high-tech repair centre in the Czech Republic.

The company provides manufacturing and aftermarket services to global leaders in networking, telecommunications, computing, storage, consumer, automotive, industrial, medical, and aerospace and defense products. The plant will be located in Plzen and the grand opening ceremony is scheduled to take place during spring of 2007.

"We ran an in-depth study concerning the options of expanding our business. As part of that study, we evaluated several Central European countries and are delighted to announce that our new technological centre will be located in the Czech Republic," says Craig London, Executive Vice President, Solectron Global Services. "We selected the Czech Republic for its long-term affordability, a solid infrastructure, its rich talent base and good access to our customers throughout Europe."

"Solectron is among the world's leading electronics manufacturing services providers and the repair centre will employ many highly-skilled personnel," adds Jana Pexova, chief of the regional CzechInvest Agency office in Plzen. "The company will need about 50 graduates in its repair centre and even more people in the support services. Solectron plans to invest more then EUR 3,5 million in Plzen."

The plant will offer cost-effective repair services for Solectron's customers, covering most stages in the repair cycle of high-tech electronics, which includes warranty management, parts management, repair and return, asset recovery and remarketing.
