Take a seat with Loonette the Clown, her best doll friend Molly, and the rest of the clan at the Victoria Theatre when The Big Comfy Couch - Molly's Fool Moon Festival bounces into town for two performances on October 14.
The Big Comfy Couch - Molly's Fool Moon Festival is a fun-filled stage adaptation of the hit television series, packed with singing, dancing and crazy antics for children and families, with oodles of audience participation. Loonette the Clown, Molly, Granny Garbanzo and Major Bedhead — along with the adorable Dustbunnies and a host of clowns — all come together for a wacky celebration no one will ever forget! Non-stop laughter and fun top the party list as Loonette gets ready for her special performance at the Fool Moon Festival. There's just one problem - Molly won't concentrate! At first she's too fidgety and then she's too droopy.
They soon find out Major Bedhead's sluggish too. It's a floppy clown epidemic! Luckily Granny Garbanzo knows what to do and saves the day with her World Famous Gah-Loppy No More Floppy Clown Bouncy Bars! Soon everyone's their bubbly self again and just in time for the Fool Moon Festival! The Big Comfy Couch is a safe, cozy place for children to learn about the world around them. It's a place for clock rug stretching, 10-second tidying up, story time and fun, rhyming songs.
An energetic child clown, Loonette was so named because of her large reading glasses (lunettes, in French), and her loony personality. Loonette sits on a big comfy green couch with a floral print and spends much of her time playing with her best friend, a doll named Molly. She is adventuresome and mischievous - traits which can sometimes lead to surprises - but always takes responsibility for her actions. Loonette loves acting, storytelling, singing and dancing.
Together Loonette and Molly play games, read stories and participate in imaginative activities that teach sharing and caring for others. Together with her friends, Loonette enjoys all the wild and wacky treasures which can be found under the cushions of an enormous couch. "The Big Comfy Couch" first tickled the imaginations of Canadian pre-schoolers in 1993. Today this Canadian original warms the hearts of children in more than 20 countries.
A full-length musical theatre production, the live show includes 60 minutes of singing, dancing and oodles of audience participation with Loonette, her dolly Molly and their friends. Molly's Fool Moon Festival follows in the footsteps of their other live productions with a larger-than-life couch, colorful costumes and original songs. At its height, the television series was the highest-rated children's series in the United States for ages two to five. The show continues to entertain children on Treehouse and PBS networks in Canada and the United States. -- www.victoriatheatre.com
