Good old-fashioned family fun is set to make a comeback at the National Railway Museum (NRM) with the return of York board game club Beyond Monopoly!

To mark Family Learning Week (6-14 October), families are invited to join in a gaming extravaganza in the museum's Great Hall on Sunday, October 7, from 10am until 4pm.

Railway fans aged 8+ are particularly in for a treat, as strategy games on offer include Trans America, Ticket to Ride and Railroad Tycoon, which has players building railroads across the States, shipping goods and selling shares as in the early days of the American railways.

Paul Swift, Lifelong Learning and Gallery Programmes Officer at the NRM said:

"The NRM continually encourages families to visit and learn together so we whole-heartedly support National Family Learning Week (FLW), an annual awareness campaign which aims to highlight the importance that families can have in supporting each other's learning.

"Playing board games together is a great starting point and they have come a long way since Miss Scarlet first raised her candlestick in anger. You don't need to know any games beforehand as group members will be able to explain how to play them quickly and easily. The Beyond Monopoly! event at the NRM is an ideal opportunity for York families to spend some quality time together." --
