As Many As 6 Dead in Forest County Shooting in Crandon; Suspect is Law Enforcement Officer - By Chris Lato
As many as six people are dead in a shooting rampage in Crandon, Wisconsin. The suspect is reportedly with the Forest County Sheriff's Department. At least report authorities were still trying to hunt him down.
Authorities say this is a fatal shooting - a witness says just before 3 am gunfire erupted at a home in Crandon. A witness says 10 area youths between 17 and 20 were at the home, and one suspect, the law enforcement officer, fired all the shots.
At this time, authorities are still trying to apprehend the suspect, considered armed and dangerous, and who may be on foot.

The whole neighborhood was still on lockdown as of mid-morning. There are varying reports on the number of those injured and fatalities - numbers are not confirmed at this time, and it was not immediately confirmed what sparked this shooting.

"According to reports from the Associated Press, a Forest County supervisor says at least five people are dead in a shooting rampage in northern Wisconsin. Supervisor Tom Vollmar says it's a pretty tragic situation there in the wake of the incident early today in which he says five or six people area dead.
"WGBA NBC 26 in Green Bay, WI is reporting on their website that Police and the FBI have just found a Forest County Sheriff's employee dead. They think Tyler Peterson, an employee of just one week, opened fire at a party late last night. According to witnesses, 6 people are dead, though law enforcement has not confirmed any deaths."

At least five people were killed Sunday morning in a Wisconsin shooting rampage in the United States. The shooting took place in the town of Crandon, located in the northern part of the state.
While full details are not immediately avilable, Wikinews has learned that the suspect is a local police officer, and the five victims are believed to be either in their late teens or early 20's. The shooting allegedly took place inside of a house. No motive is known or being disclosed at this time.
The town is currently in lockdown and a gag order has been issued, although images and commentary on the situation have still made it onto the national media. Traffic is currently being detoured around the town.
