The Treasured Places project aims to mark the centenary in 2008 of the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS).

The Commission has launched Treasured Places to give everyone in Scotland a chance to explore their national and local heritage through the RCAHMS archive collection, and to vote for their favourite archive image.

You can visit the Treasured Places website and see a collection of beautiful and fascinating photographs and drawings of some of the most celebrated buildings and places in Scotland. And you have the opportunity to vote for an original architectural drawing of our own Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.

You can vote online until the end of October 2007, when the top ten most popular images will be announced. The shortlisted pictures will be included in the RCAHMS centenary exhibition in Edinburgh, and will tour ten venues across Scotland.

The nation's favourite image of a Treasured Place will be announced in early December. -- www.glasgowmuseums.com
