These solutions combine Polycom on demand video conferencing with multimedia communications from Nortel* [NYSE/TSX: NT] and systems integration from Nortel Government Solutions to help create more efficient, effective and productive environments for collaboration among geographically dispersed government employees.
Nortel Government Solutions, a U.S. company wholly owned by Nortel, can now provide the entire line of Polycom video conferencing and collaboration solutions to its government clients under a non-exclusive resale agreement between Polycom and Nortel announced in May 2007.
This includes telepresence, conference room and desktop video for multipoint conferencing; video network management and scheduling; and recording, streaming and archiving of video conferences and content. These standards-based solutions are part of the Polycom UltimateHD* architecture, which offers the high quality, scalability and backward compatibility necessary to provide an unrivaled user experience.
"These complete, proven solutions are available from a single source, making it easier for Federal agencies to improve multi-location collaboration and decision making while lowering both travel costs and environmental impact," said Chuck Saffell, chief executive officer, Nortel Government Solutions.
"Integrating managed services from Nortel Government Solutions with Polycom video systems - the only systems that support both FIPS 140-2 validation for government security and IP v6 - offers a powerful solution customized for the specific needs of the Federal marketplace and the most effective way for government workers to telecommute," said Barry Morris, vice president, Federal Systems, Polycom. -Nortel
