Google Releases Gmail mobile Version 1.5

Google has released an updated version of Gmail's java application for mobile phones. The new version makes it easier to access your contact list allowing you to call friends, loved ones, and business associates directly from Gmail.

The version also allows you to search your mail and offers more configurable settings. It's reported to reduce bandwidth consumption too – 1.5 actually shows your bandwidth usage whenever it loads data.

One annoyance noted with 1.5 users so far is an advertisement -- “sent from Gmail for mobile” -- tacked onto the end of sent messages. Although, it should be noted, the promo can be disabled in the 1.5 settings. The Gmail Mobile version 1.5 is available in Englih only and is not compatible with Google Apps.
