Linda Darby, charged with murdering her husband in 1970, was found living in a small Tennessee city Friday, 35 years after her escape from prison.
Darby, who had changed her name to Linda Joe McElroy, was discovered in the town of Pulaski, the Associated Press reported, over three decades after she scaled a barbed wire fence at a women's prison in Indiana.
"As far as I know she never had any criminal history after she came here," Giles County Sheriff, Kyle Helton told the AP. "She never got into any trouble. She led a flawless life."
Darby, 64, was sentenced to life after murdering her husband. She was reported to have been living peacefully since her escape in the 1970's.
Investigators in Indiana worked with the Pulaski police department to find and arrest Darby. Authorities say she is being held at the county jail and will be moved to Indiana on Tuesday.

I say let her go. The law enforcement where she resided said themselves that she never got into any trouble. She obiviously is not a hardened criminal and just wanted to live her life the way she would have had she not been convicted. I'm sure she had to have lived the last 35 years watching over her shoulder and always wondering if someone new who she was or not. If she had indeed stayed in prison she would have probably lives a model prison life and more than likely would be out now anyway on paroll. So put her on house arrest or something and send her home to her kids and grandkids whom obviously love her tremendously.
OH YEAH AND ONE MORE THING SHE SAYS SHE IS INNOCENT OF KILLING HER HUSBAND. WE ALL KNOW THAT BACK IN THE 70'S THEY DID NOT HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY THEY HAVE TODAY REOPEN THE CASE AND USE MODERN TECHNOLOGY TO CLEAR HER IF SHE IS INDEED INNOCENT

She is not innocent. She was tried and convicted beyond a reasonable doubt.
Her finger prints were on the gas can and the murder weapon that was found at the hotel where she left hern kids in order to commit the crime of pre-meditated murder. There is no statute of limitation for murder. She just did not want to pay for what she did and lived free for 35 years. It's easy to live the life of a model citizen when you have to look over your shoulder every day knowing that you could be caught. If she was innocent why did she hide in the closet of her Mom & Dad's house and have to be dragged out by the Boyd County Sherriff and placed in hand cuffs in front of her children? Just because she says she's innocent doesn't mean that she is. You obviously do not have all the facts. I was there and lived through it. I feel sorry for the kids and the grandkids but not for her.
Notafter all that she has put my family through. She is where she belongs.

MAYBE SOME FINE PERSON WILL KILL DOTTIJANE AND MAKE THIS WORLD A BETTER PLACE WILL ESCAPE AND LATER BE CAPTURED AND THEN I WILL ECHO DOTTIJANES SICK MENTALITY. LAST IF IT WERE A MAN WHOM DID TO HIS WIFE WHAT DARBY DID TO HER HUSBAND THEN DOTTI JANE WOULD TELL THE TRUTH EXECUTE KILLERS!
