Wal-Mart's lawyers have already gotten busy releasing a slew of warnings to websites known to post Black Friday cirrcular-weeks in advance. Websites targeted, among many, include dealtalker.com and gottadeal.com
"It has recently come to our attention that you and/or your company may potentially obtain possession of and untimely release Wal-Mart's sales circulars, advertisements or other information prior to their authorized release dates," the law firm which represents Wal-Mart wrote in the notice obtained by CNNMoney.com
The publication of Black Friday ads prior to Wal-Mart's release date of Nov. 19, it says, "violates Wal-Mart's right." The company has also threatened to press charges this year warning that criminal penalties may apply.
Black Friday marks the start of holiday shopping where retailers compete for the best savings. In the past retailers have listed savings just days in advance but, in recent years, according to CNN, online bargain sites have beat them to the punch.
“Although consumers love the early information,” says CNNMoney.com, “it also means that retailers lose the element of surprise as well as much of the sales hype that they would've liked to generate closer to Thanksgiving.”
Trampling
I'm surprised Wal-Mart and stores such it aren't sued. What the fuck is wrong with America when you are willing to wait in line 12 hours to get trampled over in 5 minutes for a $300 laptop. THERE ARE OTHER DEALS PEOPLE!
