McCallum Theatre Institute, the education division of the McCallum Theatre is proud to announce OPEN CALL 2008 - 10th Anniversary Celebration, April 25-26, 2008! This Valley-wide competition is a perfect opportunity to showcase your talent! If you sing, dance, play an instrument, juggle, perform magic, comedy or any other self-contained novelty act, here's your chance to perform at the renowned McCallum Theatre before three sold out audiences.
The deadline to submit your entry is December 28, 2007. Submission information and live audition and rehearsal dates are available on our website at www.mccallumtheatre.com/education/opencall.php. Finalists will appear on stage at the McCallum Theatre in three performances. At the 7pm performance on Friday, April 25 and the 2pm performance on Saturday, April 26, the audience will participate by voting.
Audience votes will carry the weight of one judge's vote in the final performance at 7pm on Saturday, April 26, 2008 where winners will be announced. Cash prizes will be awarded to the grand prize ($1500), 2nd place ($750) and audience choice ($750) award winners. In addition to the cash award, the grand prize winner will appear as an opening act during the 2008-2009 season! All Open Call finalists will receive a cash stipend.
The McCallum Theatre Institute, established in September 1997, is the education division of the McCallum Theatre for the Performing Arts. The Institute offers a spectrum of arts education programs for the community, including free activities for more than 37,200 school children and classroom teachers each year.
