In 2007 Escobar and Fatter Eskil, among the most established bars and music clubs in Aarhus, took over the Café Casablanca on the island of Anholt with a view to creating a unique summer restaurant and music venue.
Lying in the middle of the Kattegat Sea, Anholt island is one of the most beautiful and isolated communities in Denmark; a place that attracts many seasonal visitors for its stunning scenery and, of course, for the many famous Danish musicians that stage smaller and more intimate summer gigs there.
All aspects of the restaurant at Café Casablanca were comprehensively upgraded, but, with its role as a live music venue, particular attention was to be paid to the sound system. With over twenty bands already booked for the summer season, Ejner Dam, one of the owners of Café Casablanca, explained that the audio system selection process was vital to get right: “The speaker system that was in place at the Café Casablanca was too much old school and couldn’t keep up to today’s demands. Therefore we decided to go for a brand new system, but due to our limited amount of space it was important to find a system that above all sounded great, but didn’t need a big space. We tested many different systems, but when I heard the Tannoy V Series I had no doubt, this system sounded so great and had everything we needed”.
Provided by the local Tannoy dealer Dansk Audio Teknik, the front of house system is built around V12’s and VS15 HL subwoofers, while V6’s are utilised as stage monitors. Managed by three TDX1 digital controllers, all speakers are powered by LAB Gruppen manufactured Tannoy TA amplifiers.-Tannoy
