On October 26 from 6-10 p.m., Denver’s posh partiers are invited to experience the extravagance of French royalty and over-the-top art assortments at Untitled #9 (Deluxe). Dressed to impress in their stately attire, royal revelers will be tempted by lavish festivities and the Denver Art Museum’s most deluxe collections during the Museum’s ninth Untitled final-Friday event.
Untitled #9 (Deluxe) will feature the vibrant and inventive performances of Denver’s Buntport Theater Company, known for unusual theatrical adaptations and quirky original comedies. In honor of the Museum’s recent opening of Artisans & Kings: Selected Treasures from the Louvre, guests are summoned to take an imperial crash course on courtly gossip or to contact the departed Kings of France with a regal séance and the help of a Ouija board. Everyone is encouraged to appraise the artistry of local hairstylists and witness the makings of a chic coif á la Marie Antoinette.
Finally, after their “royal treatment” visitors may don a majestic frock and pose for a 16th century glamour shot. Untitled final-Friday night events are included in regular Museum admission. Students presenting valid IDs receive 2-for-1 admission when tickets are purchased on-site. Artisans & Kings: Selected Treasures from the Louvre requires an additional ticket; 2-for-1 student pricing applies to the Artisans & Kings exhibit as well – this night only. Many artists call their work “Untitled” so there’s nothing to limit how each viewer perceives the art.
Similarly, anything can happen at our series of Untitled events. Like the final-Friday event of every month, Untitled #9 (Deluxe) will offer music, a cash bar and other offbeat encounters with art, all with a dose of the unexpected. Catering is provided by Bistro Boys Catering and Gourmet Fine Catering. On November 30, visitors will soak up a myriad of hues at Untitled #10 (Chroma) as the Museum introduces Color As Field, a new modern and contemporary exhibit. The next final-Friday event, Untitled #11 (You Are Here), will be on January 25 after a one-month Untitled hiatus. -- www.denverartmuseum.org
