The Franklin Institute celebrates the creepiest time of year with its annual Halloween Spooktacular on Saturday, October 27, 2007 from noon to 3 pm, a festival of everything that goes bump in the night! Lucy Hawking will read from her new book, “George’s Secret Key to the Universe”.

The book is co-authored by her very famous father, Stephen Hawking, and sign copies. Costumed party-goers are encouraged, and receive free admission to the museum!

• The first 500 kids will receive a Halloween goody bag, filled with tricks and treats. While
supplies last.

• Kids in costume can walk in the Halloween Parade, leaving from the third floor at 2 pm.

• Watch and learn as we dissect a sheep’s slimy eyeball!

• Take a walk through the Haunted Heart, and see if your heart can handle it.

• Haven’t decided on a costume yet? Make a mask to take home with you!

• Create a giant smoking ring, and watch in amazement as it rises overhead.

In “George’s Secret Key to the Universe,” George’s technology-wary parents warn him to keep away from their new neighbors, scientist Eric and his daughter Annie. But when George befriends them and Cosmos, their super-computer, he finds himself on a wildly fun adventure, while learning about physics, time, and the universe.

Founded in Honor of America’s first scientist, Benjamin Franklin, The Franklin Institute is one of America’s oldest and premier centers of science education and development in the country. Today, the Institute continues its dedication to public education and creating a passion for science by offering new and exciting access to science and technology in ways that would dazzle and delight its namesake. -- www2.fi.edu
